Key-Whitman Eye Center’s Dallas HQ Moves to New State-of-the-Art Facility More Convenient for Patients
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 14, 2016 -- Key-Whitman Eye Center's corporate headquarters is moving to 11442 N. Central Expressway (between Royal Lane and Forest Lane on the Northbound access road) in Dallas effective March 21, 2016. The new facility will house Key-Whitman’s fully accredited surgery center, LASIK surgery center, general and specialty ophthalmic services clinic, optical center and corporate offices.
The move from the former headquarters on Lemmon Avenue is driven by market research on patient preferences. Key-Whitman President and Chief Surgeon Jeffrey Whitman, M.D. says, “It will be much faster and easier for most of our patients to come to our new headquarters. In choosing a more central location, we also are making it more convenient for our surgical patients both in the city of Dallas and suburbs like Plano, McKinney, Allen and Frisco. We listened to our patients and are giving them a location that better meets their needs.”
In addition to the new headquarters location, Key-Whitman will continue to operate clinics in North Dallas, Mesquite and Plano, along with North Arlington and South Arlington locations. Patients from the Plano and North Dallas offices will save travel time by coming to the new location for their surgeries.
The new headquarters is a two-level, 35,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art medical facility, which will accommodate the continued growth of Key-Whitman’s patient base.
Key-Whitman doubled its surgical space – growing from two to four operating rooms – as well as the number of examination rooms, which is growing to 25. The new location offers expansion of the clinical research department along with plenty of free parking for patients and staff (valet parking is also available), a coffee bar and an expanded optical center.
Key-Whitman eye doctors are utilizing leading edge technology for eye health exams and surgical procedures, and now will be able to more fully integrate technology into clinical operations. Executive Director Dan Chambers is excited because the technology at the new facility will include an enhanced patient tracking system that was originally launched at their former location.
“Patients love our Real Time Locating System because they know we are working to improve efficiency and reduce wait times using RFID tags. For the new location, we developed innovative technology to further improve communication across teams, so doctors and technicians can better address patient needs,” says Chambers.
Along with expanding traditional eye health services and leading edge surgical eye procedures, Key-Whitman’s future plans include expanding hours for pediatric ophthalmic services in Dallas, as well as offering hearing testing and hearing aid services in the future.

The real estate developer for the project was Bandera Ventures, with design and architecture provided by Gary McCalla of McCalla Rios of Allen, TX, along with Eckert Wordell of Kalamazoo, MI, an architectural consultant. Construction services were provided by FA Peinado of Frisco, TX. MedNetwoRx of Dallas, TX, managed all digital communication and security considerations for the new facility.
