Keyport Skyrockets Past Initial Goal with Second Kickstarter Campaign and Announces New Open Source Development Platform Partnership with GroupGets
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) February 04, 2016 -- Keyport, Inc., the pioneers who created the world’s first universal access device, today announced that they met their initial funding goal of $100,000 in just over the first three days of their Kickstarter campaign. Presently, Keyport is surging past $180,000 on Kickstarter with three days left in their campaign. It concludes on February 7 at 10:10 am PT. Anyone interested in pledging can go to mykeyport.com/kickstarter. Project backers will be funding six new Keyport products which go well beyond simply reinventing the bulky keychain. The products include:
• The Keyport Slide 3.0 (4 and 6-Port versions)
• The all-new Keyport Pivot
• A Bluetooth low energy locator add-on module that works with TrackR
• A folding knife add-on module designed by nationally recognized knife designer Glenn Klecker of Klecker Knives
• A 12 lumen mini-flashlight add-on module
• Keyport’s innovative KeyportID – an online lost and found service using the unique serial number engraved on each individual Keyport to connect owners and finders of lost Keyports directly online, in just one click, while remaining anonymous.
All three add-on modules are compatible with both the Keyport Slide 3.0 and Keyport Pivot. Keyport plans on fulfilling its backer pledges in July, and the new products will be available for retail sale in Q3 of this year.
“We’re thrilled to exceed our Kickstarter goal and would like to sincerely thank all those who pledged at every level,” said Keyport’s President, David Cooper. “These funds will allow us to deliver the foundational products of our modular everyday multi-tool platform. Think of Keyport as the operating system for your pocket and all of the various items which you can integrate as physical apps. Can't get a splinter out? Now, there's an app for that. Need to sign a check and your waiter didn't bring a pen with the bill? Now there's an app for that.”
In anticipation of the launch of their new products, Keyport also announced today the creation of an open source development platform in partnership with GroupGets, a secure online buying platform that lets any engineer or maker receive the same pricing as Fortune 500 companies for parts. The partnership will allow companies, independent engineers, and makers of all kinds to design and manufacture Keyport compatible products.
“We’re proud to partner with GroupGets to include the maker community in our efforts and to create an open source development platform that will bring Keyport compatible products to market,” said Keyport’s Founder and Chief Product Designer, Josh Downes. “We’re co-developing a website where anyone can design or commission their own Keyport Module and sell it to others. Keyport will offer certification for those who want to sell their products in our online store and receive official designation of being made for Keyport.”
