Kick Up Your Feet While Kicking Off The Summer Season — At the Walnut Creek Art & Wine Festival
Walnut Creek California (PRWEB) May 13, 2014 -- More than 100,000 people attend the annual event, and this, the 33rd festival, will continue to deliver, with more than 200 arts and crafts booths. Voted the best outdoor event by the Contra Costa Times, the free festival will be held Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Heather Farm Park at 301 N. San Carlos Drive in Walnut Creek.
The music selection for 2014 includes some of the greatest tribute bands in Northern California from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s with Journey Revisited, The Sun Kings, Petty Theft, Zebop!, Fleetwood Mask, Aja Vu, and Stealin’ Chicago. There’s something for everyone with a bit of the blues, swing, rockabilly and rock. Some of the other acts include: Stompy Jones, Motel Drive, Savannah Blu, Fu Man Chu, Push, the Walnut Creek Civic Arts Jazz Band and the Foothill Middle School Jazz Band. A Dixieland band will also entertain in the San Carlos music area.
It’s not just about the music. The craft beer garden returns after last year’s enthusiastic response, with a sampling of microbrews from Calicraft, EJ Phair, Altamont, Schubros and more. More than 75 fine wines will also be available for tasting. Commemorative glasses will be available for purchase.
It wouldn’t be summer without festival food, such as hand-dipped corndogs, barbecued oysters, gyros, chicken skewers, crab-cake sandwiches, sausages and hand-squeezed lemonade and Italian ice.
The celebration is also for the children in the family with the kids’ area expanded this year to include a Lego playing area, a slide, bow and arrow games, a 25-foot rock climbing wall, bounce houses, a train ride, face painting, air brush tattoos, balloons and the popular water-ball pool. The young ones won’t want to miss the Piccolo Puppet Players.
The Centennial celebration will include a heritage gallery of historic photos of Walnut Creek.
