Kids’ Chance of California Calls for Support of Injured Workers and Families on Workers’ Memorial Day
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) April 28, 2015 -- Kids’ Chance of California urges the public to use Workers’ Memorial Day as an opportunity to remember and help support the families of those fatally injured during a work-related accident.
Workers' Memorial Day was founded in 1971 by OSHA and is observed every year on April 28. It was established to honor those workers who have died on the job by acknowledging the grief and suffering of their families and to reinforce the need for safe workplaces. There were 396 fatal injuries on the job in California in 2013.
Kids’ Chance of California helps support this mission not only on Workers’ Memorial Day, but year-round, by providing need-based educational scholarships to the children of California workers who have been fatally or seriously injured on the job.
Since its beginning in 2012, Kids’ Chance of California has provided on-going scholarships helping eight students realize the dream of a college education. It is Kids’ Chance of California’s goal to build on that success and to positively impact the lives of more young people in California.
Kids’ Chance of California is continually seeking new applicants. If you or someone you know might qualify, you’re urged to learn more and apply. The application and detailed eligibility requirements can be found online at kidschanceca.org/scholarships
