BTWF & ETA Will Highlight the Local Community Organization for Its Exceptional Work with Young People
Born This Way Foundation and Exploring the Arts are excited to announce that Kids in a New Groove will be featured at an upcoming stop of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s Cheek to Cheek tour in Austin, Texas on April 23rd. The initiative is part of a partnership between Born This Way Foundation and Exploring the Arts to highlight exceptional nonprofit organizations at Cheek to Cheek stops across the country. Organizations are chosen based on their demonstrated excellence in empowering young people to become compassionate, creative, and brave.
Kids in a New Groove will be featured prominently at the show including a location for their staff or volunteers to interact with the thousands of fans in attendance, increasing awareness of the services and programs the group offers. Additionally, Kids in a New Groove will receive the proceeds from a pair of tickets to the show and a meet and greet with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga that will be auctioned off by CharityBuzz at https://www.charitybuzz.com/catalog_items/739400.

Kids in a New Groove (KING) provides Texas youth in foster care with a committed one-on-one mentoring relationship through weekly private music instruction, giving students the ability to build concrete strategies for life-long success. KING envisions all Texas youth in foster care have the tools and support they need to become successful individuals when they transition out of the foster care system.

Similarly, the partnership reflects Exploring the Arts' deep history of engaging local organizations to improve arts education in public high schools throughout New York City and Los Angeles.
ABOUT KIDS IN A NEW GROOVE (KING): KING is a 501c3 Austin based non-profit that provides private music lessons and instruments to children in the Texas foster care system. KING seeks to change the grim statistics on youth aging out of foster care, where many children eventually face homelessness or incarceration due to lack of community resources. As foster children move between placements, a KING teacher moves with each child, providing a consistent and stable mentor. The KING program also helps children build life skills, accountability, goal-setting, and perseverance.
