Kids Matter Makes Nomination for 2014 Shining Star Award
Southlake, TX (PRWEB) October 15, 2014 -- Kids Matter is nominating Rexanna Sandlin to receive the 2014 Shining Star Award. Her dedication and passion for the organization and the children it serves are undeniable. Sandlin is a force behind this charity that allows Kids Matter to continue to pursue its mission of helping children in crisis. The award will be presented at the 2014 Shining Stars Luncheon.

The 2014 Shining Stars Luncheon is a special day of recognition for outstanding volunteers in North Tarrant County. Thirty deserving women are nominated by civic and charitable organizations for their efforts in making a difference and contributing countless hours volunteering to causes dear to their hearts. The passion and selfless efforts of these honorees are true examples of paying it forward to those in need. These remarkable women are committed humanitarians who positively impact their community and continue to be inspiring role models for volunteers everywhere.
Rexanna Sandlin and her husband Bill Sandlin currently live in Southlake Texas and have two daughters, Elizabeth and Taylor. She is a former national sales manager for ClayDesta Communications located in Midland, TX. While in Midland, Sandlin was very active in the Junior League and served as Chairman of the Board for the Cerebral Palsy Center, now the Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center.
Sandlin has been involved with Kids Matter for the past five years serving in various volunteer positions. She currently serves as the Kids Matter Charity Ball Chairman and has served as the Around the Block Chairman in 2012 and 2013. Funds raised at the annual Charity Ball, the single largest annual fundraising event for KMI, go to support over a dozen Kids Matter programs for children not only in Texas but also nationwide. The Around the Block event is a program for clothing children in need within the community. The program has grown from clothing 400 children five years ago to over 2,300 children receiving clothing during Sandlin’s two years as chairman. Sandlin was head of the Children and Families Division for Around the Block for three of the past four years and her overall leadership has been an integral part of this growth and success.
