This unique exhibit merges fashion, film and material culture to examine the impact the high heeled shoe has had on American society. Presenting more than 110 contemporary high heels and 50 historical designs taken from the archives of the Brooklyn Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s vast and coveted costume collections, the Exhibit has garnered rave reviews. From the high platform chopines of 16th Century Italy to today’s Jimmy Choo’s and Louboutins, this is a look at the history of the shoe that has defined femininity for centuries.
