Kim Bey, Top Washington, DC, CPA, Lectures to Entrepreneurs about “10 Most Expensive Tax Mistakes That Cost Entrepreneurs Thousands” at American University
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 11, 2014 -- On March 30th, the National Student Initiative hosted approximately two hundred students, investors and business people at their Entrepreneur Fest 2014, a one-day celebration and information session for up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Kim Bey, author of Amazon best-seller "Secrets of a Tax Free Life: Surprising Write-Off Strategies Most Business Owners Miss" and a top Washington, DC, CPA, was invited as a speaker. During her session, she spoke about the need for entrepreneurs and business owners to have a tax strategy in place. The bottom line is that they will pay thousands of dollars, if not tens of thousands, more in taxes than they should if they don’t have a tax plan. Bey would rather see entrepreneurs reinvest the tax savings in their business and expand rather than paying more taxes than necessary.
“Most entrepreneurs think about taxes as an afterthought – something to deal with later,” explains Bey. “As unpleasant as it is to think about, it really needs to be part of their initial business planning so that they can save themselves the headache of waking up one morning and having their accountant tell them they now have a tax problem.”
Bey is Washington, D.C.’s first Certified Tax Coach and knows what she is talking about. She is a member of an elite group of fewer than 200 accountants nationwide specializing in strategic tax planning.
“I was happy to participate in Entrepreneur Fest 2014 because tax planning is part of being a successful entrepreneur. Reaching several hundred aspiring business people with this key message is important to the future of business in this country,” concluded Bey.
Entrepreneur Fest 2014, besides Bey’s address and one by David Drake of SoHo Loft, had a number of important panel discussions including “Launch: Building Your Startup,’ “The Startup Ecosystem,” and “The Entrepreneur Life Chose Me.”
The National Student Initiative, which sponsored the event, was founded in 2011 with a single goal in mind: to provide remarkable opportunities for ambitious students. Since its inception, the organization has rapidly expanded across the globe.

Kim is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Washington, DC. She earned her BBA degree in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma and completed Advance Income Tax Research course at the University of Texas in Dallas.
A CPA since 1990, Kim has worked as staff accountant, audit and compliance manager, auditor and senior examiner at various organizations including a government agency and a national CPA firm.
