San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 19, 2014 -- Poway residents, Genie and John Gaudette, were the lucky recipients of the kick-off party giveaway prize, a brand new Kindle Fire HDX. The raffle was open to all attendees for the kick-off party held on January 26, 2014 at the Serra Mesa Library. Previously held at the New Children’s Museum, the event at the local library produced a smaller turnout, but with a more “family” feel. This is the third launch party hosted by the well-known San Diego plumbing company and the fourth year of the team up with the American Heart Association.

For the fourth year, the San Diego plumber is hosting the “Howe” Healthy is Your Heart Drawing Contest. Open to children ages 5-12, the contest is designed to raise awareness of heart disease and teach children and their families to engage in healthy and active lifestyles. The contest runs for three months and entrants have the chance to win the Grand Prize, a $250 gift card to Toys R Us and an invite for them and their family to the San Diego Heart Ball held at the Del Coronado Hotel in June. Five additional runners up will receive a $100 gift card to Toys R Us, including the popular “Facebook” favorite.

Local San Diego plumber, Bill Howe, and his wife Tina, is no stranger to community outreach and giving back. At last year’s launch party, they raffled off an iPad mini and host a regular quarterly giveaway, where they have given away prizes such as an LCD flat screen TV, two-year membership packages to 24-hour fitness, digital cameras and cash to name a few. Not only were they raffling off the Kindle Fire HDX; at the party, they had a prize wheel to spin with fun and heart healthy prizes like an AHA themed jump rope. They also had a special entertainer, Danielle the Clown, making balloons and entertaining as well as Dr. El-Said from Rady Children’s Hospital offering on site heart health education.

“It is always great to meet our neighbors and customers, and this is one of the events that allow us to do so,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of the Bill Howe Family of Companies. “We look forward to this contest every year and mostly because of the good we can do in our community. Health education is so important and here we have a way to reach out in a fun and unique way.”
