King Kullen is Ready for Mother’s Day
Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) May 08, 2014 -- Sunday, May 11 is Mother’s Day, and this Saturday, May 10 King Kullen is excited to host its annual free “Decorate a Cupcake for Mom” event at all 39 of its Long Island locations.
“All of our stores and bakers are excited about the cupcake decorating event on May 10. Family members can shop our store while kids, age 12 and under, decorate a cupcake for Mom, for free,” said Sue Brooks, director of bakery and frozen foods for the family-owned supermarket chain. “This annual event proves to be wonderful and well-attended each year. All of our stores are participating, and the decorating will begin at noon and go until 2 p.m.”
Many husbands and children want to make sure Mom doesn’t have to lift a finger on Mother’s Day. King Kullen offers catering services. They provide shrimp cocktail platters, sushi trays, crispy crab cakes, veggie platters, bruschetta trays, cheese platters, heroes, wraps, salads, tender roasts, steamed fish, pasta, fresh fruit trays, and much more.

“This is our largest floral holiday. We plan on selling over a quarter of a million roses this Mother’s Day, so many roses, that if those rose stems were laid, end-to-end, it would be over 77 miles of roses – that’s the distances between our Valley Stream store to the west and Bridgehampton store to the east,” said Rich Conger, director of produce and floral. “We will be carrying double dozens, one-half dozens, spray roses, rose vases and single stem rose bouquets, plus just about any combination imaginable of roses combined with other assorted beautiful flowers. Our bouquets are our biggest seller for Mother’s Day, and we have professional floral experts in many stores that hand-tie our bouquets.”
The floral departments also carry a variety of other Mother’s Day favorites including Gerbera daisies, lilies, hydrangeas, sunflowers, tulips and peonies. Outdoor favorites include seasonal spring bedding plants including New Guinea impatiens. They have a variety of larger-sized garden pots of hydrangeas, hibiscus trees, azaleas, scotch brooms, and hybrid and knockout rose bushes and hanging baskets.
“Our indoor orchids are gaining popularity for Mother’s Day,” said Conger, “and we will be selling a lot of upgraded blooming and tropical foliage plants in assorted containers and baskets.”
