KishHealth System Physician Group Provider Changes in DeKalb and Waterman
DeKalb, Illinois (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- Family Medicine Physician Shaun Mathen, DO, and Internist Ghori Khan, MD, have begun seeing patients at a new KishHealth System Physician Group office located in the lower level of the Kishwaukee Professional Building, 8 Health Services Drive, Suite 5, DeKalb, on the Kishwaukee Hospital campus. Drs. Mathen and Khan are newly employed by the KishHealth System Physician Group. David Wester, PA-C, is now seeing patients in Waterman.
Dr. Mathen began working with the health system in September 2013 at the former Center for Family Health. Dr. Mathen’s special interests are nutrition, osteopathic medicine, and complementary medicine. He previously practiced at Advocate Sherman Hospital caring for hospitalized patients. Dr. Mathen received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2005 from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie, Penn. He received Bachelor of Science degrees in both biochemistry and biology in 2000 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed his residency in family medicine at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn in 2008. He is a recent graduate from the Arizona Center for Integrative medicine, completing a fellowship in integrative medicine. Integrative Medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.
Dr. Khan has been an established physician in the DeKalb/Sycamore area for over ten years. Dr. Khan has special interests in critical care, diabetes, and geriatrics. Dr. Khan started his own internal medicine private practice in Sycamore and joined the medical staff of Kishwaukee Hospital in 2004. Before his private practice, he worked as a full time internist, as a consultant for the ICU and CCU, at Albert Lea Medical Center, Mayo Health System. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Government Medical College, India, in 1990. He completed residencies in internal medicine at St. Joseph Hospital, affiliated with Northwestern University at Chicago, in 1998 and 1999.
Board Certified Physician Assistant David Wester is now seeing patients at the KishHealth System Physician Group location at 10003 U.S. Route 30, Waterman. He has been caring for patients as a physician assistant for fifteen years in the DeKalb/Sycamore community. His relationship with KishHealth System began in 2009 when he came to the Community Cares Clinic, which became the Center for Family Health. Now as a KishHealth System Physician Group provider, he is seeing patients in Waterman. He has a master’s degree in medical science from Midwestern University, where he also received his physician assistant training in family medicine. He did his undergraduate work at Wheaton College in exercise science and biology.
