Kissed and Raked: New Texture Options in Reclaimed Wood from Pioneer Millworks
Farmington, NY (PRWEB) October 09, 2017 -- Creating wood products that reach beyond traditional weather wood, Pioneer Millworks, a leader in the reclaimed wood industry, is offering Saw Kissed Douglas fir and a high-relief Raked profile.
“When designers think about reclaimed wood we want them to think beyond rustic barn siding to a wealth of textures. There’s sleek and clean to high relief in our Thoughtful Sophistication™ line,” explains Jered Slusser, reclaimed wood expert at Pioneer Millworks. “Our reclaimed wood is prized for its history, character, tight grain patterns, and deep patina. We’re further celebrating those attributes with custom textures and color.”
Salvaged from Pacific Northwest granary structures, swooping arcs are the common character on Saw Kissed Douglas fir. The wood is further enhanced with a sawn texture on the original reclaimed surface. Knots, nail holes, and naturally occurring vagaries of the wood’s previous life remain visible. This is a popular reclaimed wood product for casual and informal paneling or flooring, across whole surfaces or highlighting details.
The Raked milled profile is a very dimensional texture which can be applied to a variety of wood facades. Removing material by raking out grooves reveals the inner bright and clean wood which contrasts with the rugged or painted surfaces. The high relief texture yields a crisp, graphic pattern well-suited for any vertical surface. Standard Raked products include: Raked Black & Tan – Black, Raked Black & Tan – Tan, and Raked Knotty’n’Naily.
“We have hundreds of species, grades, and finish combinations, but we’re continually searching for exceptional surfaces and new reclaimed wood sources. These new textures are paving the way for reclaimed wood as more than just weathered wood,” Slusser continues.
