Knowledgemotion Launches bo, the World’s Largest Video Library For Education, as the Video In Education Market Is Forecast To Grow to £700m by 2023
(PRWEB UK) 30 January 2015 -- Knowledgemotion, the London based ed-tech company, has launched bo, its online video platform for education publishers and providers.
bo offers education publishers and providers seamless access to high quality, rights cleared and curriculum tagged video clips from some of the most respected content owners on the planet. It recognises the unique ability of the medium to powerfully bring the real world, past and present, into the classroom and is well placed to take advantage of the burgeoning market for video in education – forecast to grow to £700m by 2023.
The company has agreements with leading international content owners including Getty Images, Bloomberg, BBC Worldwide Learning, Associated Press Television News, SNTV, Global ImageWorks and British Movietone. These agreements give bo access to a bank of up to three million video clips, spanning all key stages, subjects and topics in the curriculum.
bo uses a proprietary algorithm to semantically match the video clips from its content partners to topics in the UK’s primary and secondary school curriculum. These matches are further validated, by a panel of teachers, through classroom usage before being made available to education publishers and providers at http://www.boclips.com. During 2015, bo will be versioning the platform and the clips within it to the curricula in other markets.
bo also simplifies many of the complexities that surround the rights management and licensing of video. The majority of the clips on the platform are rights cleared or low rights risk and available worldwide. Company wide subscription packages provide a single procurement point with associated cost and time savings versus sourcing from multiple partners.
Unveiling this innovative new resource, co-founder David Bainbridge said, “Every night, there’s something on television that brilliantly brings to life the topics our children are studying in schools. But then, it’s gone – catalogued for another broadcast day. bo finds those gems for publishers, helping them and, in turn, teachers to keep students engaged and on task-- the holy grail of classroom management.”
Co-founder Paul Naha-Biswas also commented, “bo brings the worlds of education and television together, by providing a single destination to find, license and use the best video content available. We know this is a service that education publishers and providers will embrace wholeheartedly as they move increasingly from analogue to digital. ”
Viewing bo for the first time at the launch, Professor Tarek Shawki, advisor to the Egyptian government on ICT in education, said that the quality of teaching in Egypt was a major priority for the Government, as was changing the modus operandi from sage on the sage to guide on the side, and that video was an obvious way to help leapfrog the teachers into more effective ways of teaching.
