Komprehensiv Endorses Oxford Fossil Free Campaign
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) May 27, 2015 -- Komprehensiv announces support for Oxford students and faculty rallying to divest university funds from fossil fuel producers, into low carbon emission energy providers. Oxford’s administration has been deliberating on divestment for quite some time. Students obviously feel they've taken too long.
Student protests are largely a response to recent findings that indicate oil companies have access to three times as much oil as the atmosphere could possibly handle. Oxford students and faculty are attempting to excite change for the sake of global sustainability. A divestment from an institution such as Oxford would encourage other large hedge funds to follow suit. Indeed, this movement has already begun.
The United States legendary institution, Stanford, has pulled investments from oil companies, as well as the British Medical Association, and the Rockefeller Brothers. Oxford has delayed its decision to divest until May, but it is likely that the Oxford Fossil Free Campaign will nudge administrators in the right direction.

Investment in sustainable, efficient energy, will no doubt speed up the inevitable move away from fossil fuels and a more sustainable environment. The divestment could shake up the global economy as we know it. Most large hedge funds invest a significant portion of capital in oil conglomerates like Exxon, or Shell. Reinvesting this money in clean, sustainable energy could be the encouragement everyone needs to jump on board with the green movement.
Environmental protection continues to improve and gain support as the years roll on. A recent study reported by the International Energy Agency (IEA) indicated that for the first time in forty years, global carbon emissions stalled at 32 gigatonnes. This is most likely due to China’s new found participation in the global effort to protect the earth. It seems likely that China will continue to support environmentally conscious regulation after Li Keqiang promised harsher punishment at the National People’s Congress for businesses failing to comply with pollution regulation.
