Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) April 27, 2017 -- Mr. Bill Konefes was recognized for his leadership as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the PRB Coal Users’ Group, a not-for-profit organization with affiliation to the Asian Sub-Bituminous Coal Users’ Group and the Philippine Coal Plant User Group, forming the world’s largest coal users network.
Bill Konefes is the Power and Utilities Manager for Georgia-Pacific’s world-class tissue production facility in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Additionally, he works closely with the company’s Health & Safety leadership to implement coal handling combustible dust and fire safety better practices. Bill currently serves on the Oklahoma Industrial Energy Consumers Group Executive Committee and the PRB Coal Users’ Group Board of Directors. Bill served as a Nuclear Submarine Officer on board of the USS Haddo (SSN-604) and a recipient of a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Founder, Past Chairman, and Executive Director of the PRB Coal Users’ Group Randy Rahm recognized Bill for his service to the Board of Directors, servicing as Director, Vice Chairman, and two years as Chairman. “Bill’s leadership raised the bar on bringing end users together to share their experiences so others can benefit through the exceptional quality of presentations at the annual meetings, webinars, industry better/recommended practices and collaboration. His passion to set others up for success is demonstrated in his work with the PRB Coal Users’ Group and with the Georgia-Pacific collaborating with the company’s Health & Safety leadership on continual improvements to reduce the risks of combustible dust while reducing the burden of fire and other hazards that impact the quality of life.” “We are pleased Bill will continue to serve on the Board of Directors, elected in 2010, and in his new role as Past Chairman, Bill will serve as a mentor for the incoming Chairman of the Board Andy Dobrzanski.”

The PRB Coal Users’ Group, a nonprofit organization that was formed in 2000 to promote the safe, efficient, and economic use of Powder River Basin (sub-bituminous) coal by generating companies that currently use, or are considering the use of, PRB coals.
To help meet this objective, the Board of Directors has elected to address key issues and to exchange experiences—especially in the area of safety. Over the past 16 years, they have hosted an annual meeting co-located with the ELECTRIC POWER Conference and Exhibition where candid discussion is encouraged.
The Users’ Group also develops a series of recommended practices to encourage maximum safety when utilizing this valuable low-sulfur fuel. Members have access to power plants consuming sub-bituminous coal, conference papers from past meetings, an industry on-line discussion forum, and other services.
