Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles March 2015 Newsletter Available
(PRWEB) February 26, 2015 -- Vintage Coca-Cola advertising sold at a Pennsylvania auction is featured in a sale report in “Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles" March 2015 newsletter. Bidding popped up to $2,700 for a Coca-Cola crossing guard display sign. See pictures and prices of other signs and posters—even a radio and a box of straws—that garnered attention from the Coke crowd. Majolica pieces that once decorated the home of a famous collector greatly exceeded pre-auction estimates at a California auction. Plates, vases, bowls and other majolica rarities with a nautical theme are pictured and priced in Kovels' March newsletter. Some call them tractor seats, but collectors in the know call them cast iron implement seats, and paid prices that ranged from $20 to over $4,000 at an Indiana auction. See what they look like, how they're rated and what they're used for now in Kovels' March issue.
Elvis Presley would have turned 80 in January and Graceland celebrated with an auction of Elvis memorabilia Included were sunglasses, a guitar pick, gifts he gave away and recordings—one of which sold for over $9,000. An Annapolis auction offered 1950s fashion dolls by some of the most wanted makers. Remember Miss Revlon, Sweet Sue and Honey and their cute outfits? They can be found in a Kovel March sale report alongside Toni and some Madame Alexander examples—with pictures and prices, of course. And a unique selection of small tables designed by Gustav Stickley during his early years was sold at auction in Illinois, where a plant stand with a Grueby tile topped $50,000. More tables are pictured and priced in Kovels' March newsletter.
Kim Kovel shares her favorites from a visit to the Cranbrook Art Museum near Detroit. The popular illustrated Collector’s Gallery answers readers’ questions about a ceramic cat, a Victorian carved table, an Indian-head tobacco jar and an unusual teapot lamp. March’s Dictionary of Marks lists wrist tags worn by 1950s fashion dolls. The Buyer’s Price Guide has current prices of dozens of antiques and collectibles.
