Kromtech Travels to Kenya With the Charity Mission
(PRWEB) August 30, 2017 -- Since 2016, Kromtech (a German-based software development company) has partnered with The American Foundation for Children with AIDS (AFCA), on an initiative aimed at bringing better conditions for a local school in Miwani, Kenya. In June 2017, Kromtech charity ambassador went to Miwani and assisted the AFCA charity mission working on improvements to the local school infrastructure, medical clinic, and orphanage for kids infected or affected by AIDS.
For a week and a half, the Kromtech team not only painted the entire school (inside and out) but also painted the interiors of the clinic and the orphanage. They also taught sewing to local adults, sorted a massive amount of donated clothes and provided lessons on astronomy and how the internet works to the children. The team also put together an open-air cinema with cartoons every evening and hosted a party for the children of the orphanage.
Kromtech is not only a software development company, but also offers complete customer support services. Kromtech started its AFCA partnership in 2016 with the "$1 for every 10 seconds on hold" initiative: if the hold time with a remote support specialist takes more than a minute, Kromtech will donate $1 for every 10 seconds spent by a customer on the phone. Kromtech donations are used to purchase equipment for the Miwani school to make learning safe, clean and hygienic for the 185 students and 9 teachers.
“I love that Kromtech came to Kenya because it helps to further our partnership and see what we have done with the donations they gave. Now children have the latrines they can use, they have school places to study, they have medicine they need, and medical supplies in the clinic. This allows the company to know that we are using the funds correctly. It also allows us as an organization to know that Kromtech cares enough to come, work, and to meet the children whom they are helping,” said Tanya Weaver, Director of AFCA. “Before Kromtech assistance, children didn’t have decent bathrooms to use in school. Now they have them, now they have clean water, desks, and textbooks. So it has been something that is actually changing their lives.”
Kromtech Charity Ambassador Denys Koba said, "When the AFCA had asked us if we wanted to join the group in Kenya, we definitely agreed. It was a chance to do a great hands-on work for kids we donate to every month. Meanwhile, we want to make sure that donations we give are spent on something really important. Moreover, we had a chance to host a nice party for the kids and do a couple of lectures that they really enjoyed. It’s just great to be a part of something important."
