L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contest Gala Awards Ceremony Announces Award
Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- The 30th anniversary of the L. Ron Hubbard Awards for winners of the internationally-acclaimed Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contests will be held in Los Angeles at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on Sunday, April 13th and contest organizers announced today that science fiction author Nancy Kress will present an award to L. Ron Hubbard from Writers Digest at the event.
Nancy began writing in 1976 and achieved her greatest notice since the publication of her Hugo and Nebula-winning 1991 novella "Beggars in Spain" which was later expanded into a novel with the same title. She has also won the 2012 Nebula Award for Best Novella for "After the Fall, Before the Fall, During the Fall."
In addition to her novels, Kress has written numerous short stories and is a regular columnist for "Writer's Digest". She is a regular Clarion writing workshops and at The Writers Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Writer's Digest published L. Ron Hubbard's now legendary article "Magic Out of a Hat" essay - advice to new writers - in their January 1936 issue.
The Writers of the Future Contest and the companion anthology were created by L. Ron Hubbard 30 years ago to help discover new, aspiring writers of speculative fiction and give their best work a high-profile publishing showcase.
