LA Artist Tomer Peretz Brings Controversy and Substance with Thought Provoking Art Series
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 30, 2015 -- Staying true to his mission to raise awareness in the war against terror around the world, controversial artist Tomer Peretz will be photographing everyday Americans with projections of war-oriented paintings on their bodies. The concept shows the conflicting perspective of an individual experience versus the organization they represent; a subject Tomer is passionate about after serving in the IDF and participating in missions in the Middle East. The finished photographs will be displayed in Los Angeles in July and used to bring awareness to the larger #NoApologiesArt anti-terrorism campaign.
Tomer has received heavy criticism for both serving in the military and for creating his artwork. People say he exposes things that people just shouldn’t see. A previous art show had to bring in several police because of threats of violence prior to the opening. So is his art too much? Tomer’s art has become an outlet for him, and many others to express how they feel in order to embolden everyone to stand up for who they are. In that respect it’s right on track.
“This campaign isn’t really about me, or my art. It’s about everyone else expressing themselves and showing that they care about freedom of expression. No matter who a person is or where they come from, that person should feel free to be who they truly are.” – Tomer Peretz
So this will likely be another exhibit in a long history of controversial projects for this Los Angeles-based artist. Like his other work it will cause a stir in the community, but bring us conversation about self-expression, personal perspective, and individual freedoms.
