La Cañada Flintridge Country Club Golf Course to Be Restored to Its Original Splendor
La Cañada, CA (PRWEB) November 28, 2013 -- La Cañada Flintridge Country Club has always been renowned as one of the best country clubs in the San Gabriel Valley. That is until late 2009, when the golf course irrigation system was unavoidably sacrificed during the devastating California wildfires. Now, the club is finally poised to regain its position as a top golf course, as it begins the final chapter of its recovery from the wildfires.
During the Station Fire, La Cañada Flintridge Country Club was used as a base camp for firefighters, and gladly offered its irrigation lakes to firefighters who used the course’s water to heroically save several homes in the area. Unfortunately, the water was drawn down so low that the pumps were overburdened under the heavy loads required to continue to also irrigate the course. During the heavy rainfall season following the fire, mud and debris flowed from the denuded mountains, and sediment infiltrated the irrigation system.
After the fires, the golf course was able to reopen to its members and their guests, however conditions and playability suffered without the benefit of a functioning irrigation system.
On November 21st, the club kicked off the golf course renovation project with a ceremonial groundbreaking. The club recently secured its funding for a comprehensive golf course renovation project that includes a brand new Rainbird IC irrigation system.
The new state-of-the-art, computer-controlled irrigation system will restore the course to its original splendor and enhance playing conditions considerably. La Cañada Flintridge anticipates a renovation period of less than five months, during which the course will remain open.
“I look forward to ushering in a new era of golf at La Cañada Flintridge,” commented Randy Dreyfuss, club president. “I’m thrilled that we were able to help our community during the devastating Station Fire, and we look forward to finally putting this incident behind us and once again delivering a verdant, beautiful golf course for our members.”
La Cañada Flintridge is a well-established, family-friendly private country club located in the western San Gabriel Valley, 15 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. The club is well known for its amazing mountain views, and having one of the most scenic golf courses in Southern California.
