La Maestra Community Health Centers Receives Grant to Expand Services in San Diego County with the Help of i2i Systems
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2014 -- i2i Systems Population Health Management software helped La Maestra Community Health Centers’ attain more than $300,000 in supplemental funding to expand healthcare services in San Diego County, California, the company announced today.
The Population Health Management and Analytics software was credited with helping La Maestra easily pull the data it needed for the grant application and vastly simplifying the grant process.
“We needed to make a clear case as to why the money was needed. Working with i2i Systems’ Professional Services team, we were able to quickly implement reports that showed exactly where we needed the help,” said Corinne Knutson, director of development at La Maestra. “Being able to easily access this data improved the narrative portion of the application and made the entire grant application process quick and simple.”
Knutson continues, “Previously, we would spend a lot of time asking individual program directors for the data we needed for our grants or running reports in our electronic health record, but this processes is time consuming and cumbersome compared to i2i Systems.
La Maestra was awarded $309,154, $9,000 more than originally requested. While it is unclear if the increased award was due to additional appropriations or strictly merit based, the organization is looking forward to utilizing these fund to serve its patients.
“This grant will allow our patients, who are some of the most underserved in San Diego County and include low-income, uninsured, immigrant and refugee populations increased access to needed health care services,” said Zara Marselian, chief executive officer of La Maestra. “This funding has allowed us to hire three new providers to help us expand our services.”
In particular, La Maestra was able to hire a part-time certified nurse-midwife and a part-time family practice physician to expand access. In addition, the organization hired a full-time dentist to help ease a backlog of patients waiting on dental services, as well as take on new, underserved patients.
“We are so proud to work with organizations like La Maestra that share our mission of creating healthier populations. We have created this robust solution for Population Health Management that we know helps healthcare organizations provide proactive care. La Maestra is a great example of putting that mission into practice,” said Janice Nicholson, co-founder and chief executive officer of i2i Systems.
