La Maestra's Annual Golf Tournament will Provide Imaging Services for Low-Income Individuals
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 02, 2014 -- La Maestra Community Health Centers (LMCHC), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) will host their annual golf tournament from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Riverwalk Golf Club; located at 1150 Fashion Valley Road, San Diego, CA 92108. All proceeds will go to expanding medical imaging services for low-income, uninsured, and underinsured populations residing in San Diego.
For 24 years, LMCHC has been a change agent and anchor for refugee, immigrant and underserved residents in San Diego’s lowest income and most diverse neighborhoods. The organization currently operates clinic sites in City Heights, El Cajon, Lemon Grove and National City and provides culturally and linguistically competent primary care, specialty services, chronic disease management, and essential support services to residents that have no other regular source of medical care. LMCHC prides itself on being a medical home for more than 43,000 patients, annually.
To provide additional services and improve access to imaging services, LMCHC established its own Community Health Imaging Centers (CHIC) in early 2010. CHIC provides state-of-the-art imaging services including full field digital mammography, digital X-ray, DEXA bone density screenings, and full scope sonography services, including fetal and pediatric echocardiography. Results are available within hours via teleradiology, which improves diagnostics and access to care for patients that could be dealing with a life-threatening condition. In addition, the organization’s mobile medical coach will soon provide these diagnostic services to rural communities.
