La Peer Health Systems Welcomes a New Thoracic Surgeon to Its Team

Ali Mahtabifard, MD, who recently joined the team of doctors at La Peer, is double board-certified in general and cardiothoracic surgery. As a leader in his field, Dr. Mahtabifard specializes in innovative outpatient procedures, including thoracoscopic sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis, rib resection for the treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome, and transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) and laparoscopic fundoplication for treatment of reflux.

Additionally, he will team up with the board-certified gastroenterologists at La Peer to lead the Reflux Surgery Center of Excellence, alongside Dr. Mark Davidson, who is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

He has also presented at the American Association for Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Mahtabifard received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed a general surgery internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York and then completed his general surgery residency at the world-renowned Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard University. Dr. Mahtabifard is renowned for his compassionate, expert care.
