Ladies of Virtue Awards Two Community Partners - PMI Chicagoland and True Star Foundation
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 31, 2016 -- Ladies of Virtue (LOV) selected two community organizations for their inaugural community partnership award - Project Management Institute Chicagoland and True Star Foundation. LOV partnered with both organizations in 2012 and since then has been able to train girls in project management and place them in various job opportunities. The LOV partnership with PMI provided participants with much need skills for the 21st century - collaboration, team work, leadership and more.
Participants have also presented at the PMI Chicagoland monthly dinner which provided them with exposure to a diverse audience and allowed them to build their communication skills.
The goal of the program is 100% placement in employment for all participants ages 16 and over and Ladies of Virtue has been able to accomplish this goal with the assistance of their partners.
A Partnership for Future Success – Have you ever considered how project management training could ignite passion and purpose to give teens the skills they need to succeed in life and their careers?
That’s what Jamila Trimuel, founder and executive Director of Ladies of Virtue (LOV), a Chicago-based nonprofit organization, was thinking when she reached out to initiate a partnership with PMI Chicagoland in 2012.
Aisleigh McGann, VP Community Outreach, PMI Chicagoland expressed her delight when the Chapter was presented with the award, “We are thrilled and excited to have received this very special award from LOV. This is a work of love and I am always very moved each year when we see more and more LOV women graduate, heads held high, poised for personal and professional growth. Huge thanks and appreciation to Jamila, LOV girls and mentors, Fred Barrett, Tjuan Smith, Dayle Beyer and every single volunteer, advisor, project manager that has volunteered to support and continue this great partnership.
Ladies of Virtue is dedicated to improving the lives of young women, ages 10 to 18, in underserved communities. Ladies of Virtue provides qualified low income and/or first generation high-potential students (neither parent has earned a bachelor's degree) a differentiated educational experience that will be beneficial when applying to colleges, scholarships, and future employment and to instill virtuous characteristics (e.g., passion, purpose, perseverance, servant leadership) in young women, ages 9 to 18, preparing them for college, a career and adulthood.
The objectives of the PMI/LOV program are to provide pro-bono project management advisors and expertise to advise/mentor LOV project teams as well as provide PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) materials specifically targeted to primary and secondary student in best-practice project management methods and tools into the LOV CARES program.
