Del Rosso, DO, has been honored by the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) with an award for lifetime achievement for his vast contributions to the field of dermatology. This singular honor was bestowed upon Dr. Del Rosso on March 3, 2016 during the association's annual meeting in Washington D.C. and confers upon him an Honorary Membership with the AAD. This great honor was bestowed upon Dr. Del Rosso for his over twenty five years of consistent contributions to dermatology education, clinical research, medical publications, and patient care.
The AAD is one of the most prestigious and largest dermatology organizations in the entire world. Founded in 1938, the AAD represents nearly all of the practicing dermatologists in the United States, as well as a growing contingent of international dermatologists. An AAD member since 1986, with this lifetime achievement award, Dr. Del Rosso joins the 158 Honorary Membership winners that have been similarly awarded since 1939 for their lifetime of valuable contributions to the specialty.
Dr. James Q. Del Rosso is an internationally renowned educator and invited speaker, has published many articles in recognized dermatology journals, and is co-editor of the textbook, Acne Vulgaris. He has served as a past president of the American Acne & Rosacea Society, the American Society for Mohs Surgery, and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. He also founded the Scientific Panel for Antibiotic Use in Dermatology in 2005, which has had several meetings and authored articles, under his direction, in scientific publications to guide clinicians on optimal antibiotic use.
Of this lifetime achievement award from the AAD, Dr. Del Rosso says, "I am incredibly honored and humbled that the American Academy of Dermatology has conferred upon me an Honorary Membership for my work over the years in the field of dermatology.
