Lanica Launches the Lanica Game Platform for Mobile Development
Mountain View, California (PRWEB) September 03, 2013 -- Lanica today formally launched its Lanica Game Platform for an all-encompassing approach to interactive and mobile game development.
Previously announced only as the Platino game engine, the Lanica Game Platform since has been expanded into a three-tiered solution to cover all aspects of game and interactive development -- from the creation of assets to back-end server management. Users will be able to "mix and match" specific pieces of the greater Lanica platform to fit their own unique development needs.
1.) Animo: An ever-expanding suite of tools to create, edit, and prepare assets. These include a sprite animator (Animo Sprites), particle effects generator (Animo Particles), and a font compressor (Animo Fonts). Individual Animo tools can be purchased separately per developers' own preferences and necessities.
2.) Platino: The core of the Lanica Game Platform, Platino is a cross-platform JavaScript game engine for building high-end mobile games on iOS and Android. Platino is module-based, which allows developers to add on their own tools to extend and customize the game engine for their projects instead of waiting for functionality to be added from Lanica’s side.
3.) Cosmo: Heavy-duty cloud services for Lanica developers to implement back-end support on their projects. This will let games store more data without bloating file size, and allow developers to reliably scale and grow their projects after release. Cosmo is expected to be fully rolled out by Lanica within the next few months.
The release of a multi-tiered, separable platform allows developers to incorporate Lanica into their own workflow, whether it’s just one tool or the entire platform.
"Developers today have a lot of tools to choose from, and we know that an 'all or nothing' approach to using our product would not have been fair to everyone’s own preferences," said Lanica co-founder/CEO Carlos Icaza. "That’s why we’re offering a comprehensive, multi-faceted development platform for them to pick and choose from as they find necessary. We don’t want to leave anybody out in the cold."
Coinciding with the formal release of the Lanica Game Platform, the company also has introduced lower pricing points for indie developers, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to utilize their product line at half-price or less. During the previous months' beta phase, Lanica only targeted larger gaming studios to ensure that the platform could meet the heaviest demands of high-end development.
