Las Vegas Personal Injury Lawyer Matthew E. Aaron Comments on Report About Casino Parking Lot Assault
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- The recent assault and robbery of an elderly man inside a Henderson casino parking garage should serve as a grim reminder that owners of casinos and resorts must always maintain adequate security on their premises, according to attorney Matthew E. Aaron of Aaron & Paternoster, Ltd., a negligent security lawyer in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Sun (“Man, 96, attacked and robbed in Sunset Station garage,” October 31) reported that law enforcement officials are investigating an incident in which a 96-year-old man was robbed and assaulted while exiting a casino’s parking garage in late October.
“Unfortunately, incidents involving assault and robbery in parking lots and other public areas are not uncommon in Las Vegas,” said Aaron, who represents victims of negligence and families who lost loved ones in accidents. “It’s critical that owners of parking lots, garages, and other open, isolated and often dimly lit areas take necessary security precautions. That might include not only installing security cameras, but using trained security personnel.”
According to the Las Vegas Sun, the suspect got away, and it is unclear what the suspect took from the man in the incident, which happened at Sunset Station on the afternoon of October 30 at approximately 4 p.m.
The Las Vegas Sun reported that surveillance footage revealed a possible suspect in the assault and robbery, which left the man hospitalized. A suspect was being sought in connection with the incident, the Las Vegas Sun report stated.
“While this incident is currently under investigation, we know that the owner of a business may be liable in accidents involving violent assaults on their property. While the attacker in a case like this might ultimately be criminally prosecuted, the owner of the property might face a civil lawsuit,” said Aaron.
Aaron said personal injury attorneys can investigate such cases to determine if a lack of proper security contributed to the event. Contributing factors might include a lack of security guards, poorly trained security guards or broken security cameras, he said.
Lawyers can help victims pursue compensation and hold the negligent parties accountable, he said.
