Latest Bands Set To Play Fremont Fair, June 17-18, In Seattle Music Rite Of Passage
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 08, 2017 -- For the past 45 years, the Fremont Fair has been hosting upcoming Seattle bands giving them the opportunity to play to a crowd of over 100,000. For many, it has been a groundbreaking moment, and one they look back on as a rite of passage on the road to stardom. Throughout the decades, bands that are now household names once owned the stage at this iconic Seattle event; Presidents of the United States of America, Built to Spill, The Blue Scholars and more. 2017 will be no different, set to welcome its funkiest music lineup yet, the Fair looks to this year’s slate of bands wondering who will make this rite of passage and continue Seattle’s Solstice Tradition of young artists leaving their mark on the city’s music scene.
The longest days of the year embrace the free-spirited roots of the Fremont Fair, June 17-18, and brings a pretty “funky” sound to the Center of the Universe. Led by Corona Light Main Stage headliner, Orgōne; a funk fueled soul band from California; Saturday’s lineup encourages the Fremonsters let their inhibitions go as they celebrate the arrival of summer in Seattle (especially after a long winter of record rains and minimal sun).
“We intend our music to have an inhibition-canceling effect,” Orgōne guitarist Sergio Rios explains. “It speaks to those who may have wallflower tendencies encouraging everyone to own the freakiness that lives inside them, and enjoy the spotlight for a little while. Sometimes it takes a nudge to let go and get on the dance floor. And sometimes it takes a big 'ol push... a love shove, if you will. And we're well versed in those."
Assisting Orgōne in their efforts on Saturday on the Corona Light Main Stage are Polyrhythmics: a modern afro-psycho-beat sounding 8-piece funk band that blew the doors off last month’s Upstream Music Festival in Seattle; ; KUINKA: a Seattle folk-pop band with seraphic vocals blended beautifully with ukele, cello and more; Dirty Revival: a funk infused 7-piece soul outfit from nearby Portland; and Eldridge Gravy & the Court Supreme: a hometown self-described “funk juggernaut.”
Forget rock and roll, Sunday’s sounds bring a little bit more rock and twang to the Corona Light Main Stage. Headliner Ayron Jones And The Way, who Seattle icon Sir Mix A Lot dubbed the “future of rock,” and Scott Pemberton Band, “funky, surfy, rock” dance music hailing from Portland, bring the rock, while Cascade Crescendo, jam-inspired bluegrass band also from Portland, and Coral Creek, a Colorado front-range band, bring the twang.
The Fair’s funky sound is rounded out by DJ Indica Jones bringing his 80’s, 90’s, rock, pop, and hip-hop vibes to Club Sunshine on the Casa Noble Center Stage.
Both stages are located next to Fremont’s biggest outdoor beverage gardens for guests to raise a beer or cocktail and celebrate the official kickoff of summer in Seattle, all a fundraiser for the Fremont Chamber of Commerce an organization invested in keeping Fremont one of Seattle’s most beloved and unique neighborhoods.
