Latest Poll on PositiveSingles.com Reveals that Members are Divided on the Subject of Medical Reports before Sex
Los Angeles (PRWEB) January 28, 2014 -- The leading dating website for people who suffer from sexually transmitted diseases, PositiveSingles.com, has released the results of its latest poll. The site surveys its members recently, asking them about whether their attitudes to sexual activity have changed since they become infected with an STD. The question the site poses to its members is, “will you ask for a recent STD health report from your partners before having sex with them?”
After half a month, 5639 members of PositiveSingles have answered the question that the popular dating site poses to them. After counting the votes, the site reveals that 47.35 percent of members say that they will ask a partner for a recent STD health report before engaging in sexual activity with him or her. The remainder of the voters say they will not ask for one before having sex.
Those that respond with a “no” vote say they believe that love is based on trust and asking to see a medical report shows a lack of trust in the relationship. “I only date people who have the same STD as I have, as indicated in my profile,” says one anonymous member. They say that they feel there is no need to show an STD report before having sex, even though they are infected with STDs because of dishonest partners. These members feel that all they need to do to protect themselves is to have sex in protective ways, such as using a condom. They want to trust their partners and feel comfortable having sexual activity based on that mutual respect and trust.
The members who vote “yes” to the proposed question still insist on seeing an STD health report from their partners. They don’t want to take the chance of getting infected with another STD than what they already have. The knowledge of the fact that nearly 20 million new sexually transmitted infections occur each year in U.S makes them cautious. In addition to that, many members are cheated on by dishonest partners, making them leery of trusting anyone. Once they have seen an STD report, they can then relax and enjoy the physical part of relationship with less stress and worry.
The members of PositiveSingles are almost divided equally on the topic of asking for a medical report from partners. Slightly more members will trust their partner and not ask for a medical report, while a slightly lower minority would like to see an STD report before being able to relax and enjoy a sexual relationship with their partners.
