Sacramento, California (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Graduation is nearing for high school students. While many high school seniors have already been accepted to colleges and universities across the country, scholarship money is still needed to offset the cost of education for these 2014 graduates.
The Law Offices of Edward A. Smith is pleased to announce that it will grant $1,000.00 in scholarship money to a senior graduating from Sacramento, Placer, or Yolo counties. These are the counties principally served by the firm. The deadline for the applications to be completed is May 30, 2014.
The theme surrounding the scholarship involves texting and driving. In the past, the Law Offices of Edward A. Smith has sponsored and promoted YouTube videos involving this theme. It is their hope that raising awareness of this issue will help curb accidents related to texting and driving. They are releasing the scholarship in April in honor of National Distracted Driving Awareness month.
In addition to completing a scholarship application, those students applying for the scholarship will be required to pick a medium that best expresses themselves. They may either write an essay, or use other forms of media, including video, PowerPoint, or brochure design. The content of their chosen medium should encourage fellow teens to abstain from texting and driving or it may serve to focus on the dangers of texting and driving.
To qualify, students must have applied for full-time enrollment at a four-year university or college and return the 2014 application packet and their chosen method to express themselves (essay, video, PowerPoint or brochure design) to the law firm by May 30, 2014. Scholarships will be awarded based on the student's presentation as well as their application. Winners will be chosen by a selection committee and announced on June 13, 2014.
The application package will be available by May 1, 2014 on the Facebook page of the Law Offices of Edward A. Smith which can be found at http://www.facebook.com/AutoAccidentLawyerSacramento. For more information about the scholarship, contact Julianne Reynolds, at [email protected].
