Bradley S. Wallace and Daniel S. DeSantis of Layfield & Wallace represented the plaintiff Gary Guseinov, who was the defendant’s former client. The name of the case was Gary Guseinov v. Eric Morris, John Habashy, Southern California Lawyer's Group (Case number GC049017.) The case was tried in the County of Los Angeles - North Central District (Glendale)
According to court documents, in August of 2010, Guseinov sought counsel from Morris and Habashy as he was a co-defendant in a Unlawful Detainer case involving a commercial lease with over 200k in delinquent rent. The other client was also an attorney and had a relationship with the Defendant. The attorney’s not only intentionally withheld information from the Plaintiff but they also facilitated a company and individual bankruptcy for the other client and a business that was supposed to be indemnifying the Plaintiff per a prior exit agreement. Shortly after the co-client and business were discharged in bankruptcy, the Defendant attorney’s sent correspondence to Plaintiff that they needed to withdraw due to “insurmountable conflict.” The UD case went to trial, judgment was entered against Plaintiff. After Plaintiff settled with Landlord, litigation was filed in March of 2012 against the Defendant Attorneys. After four hours of deliberation, a jury awarded Guseinov $619,039.95.
