Le French Book Multiplies Ways to Get Titles to Reviewers
New York, New York (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- “Good books don’t speak for themselves,” says Anne Trager, founder of the digital-first publishing house Le French Book. “They need people to get the word out.”
Le French Book has set out to take France’s top selling mysteries and thrillers and translate them into English to bring these voices to new readers. “We have prize-winning authors and bestselling books, but most of them are new to readers in the United States. It’s like having a fold of very talented debut authors, who have nothing debut about them, except the need to be discovered."
In publishing, the usual practice consists of giving advanced copies of books to the media to build buzz. However, only recently has it been possible to provide digital advance copies in a controlled and targeted way. Le French Book is multiplying how it does this.
It recently started working with Above the Treeline, which has been providing bookseller and publisher tools since 2002. One of its services is the book discovery tool Edelweiss, which includes a digital review copy feature. According to Publishers Weekly, “In March 2013, there were 22,600 review-copy downloads, compared to 6,700 during the same month last year.” Clearly the popularity of digital review copies is growing.
Currently Edelweiss is used by booksellers, librarians, wholesalers, bloggers, reviewers, and people in the media.
Le French Book is making all of its titles available as digital review copies on Edelweiss, both upcoming and already published titles. As author and author buzz expert M.J. Rose says, "Readers never look at pub-dates, every book is new to a reader who's never heard of it."
