Leaders from Proteus Digital Health and Hogan Lovells Elected to California Healthcare Institute Board of Directors
LA JOLLA, Calif. (PRWEB) November 24, 2014 -- California Healthcare Institute (CHI) announced today the election of two senior leaders to serve on its board of directors: Beth Roberts, partner, Hogan Lovells US LLP and George Savage, M.D., chief medical officer, Proteus Digital Health. CHI is a nonprofit, public policy research organization, representing leading California academic institutions, including biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics and pharmaceutical firms.

Roberts serves as a partner in the Washington, D.C. offices of Hogan Lovells. She assists clients with optimizing the value of their innovative medical technologies. She also helps clients navigate the complex coding, coverage and reimbursement challenges faced by their new technologies. Roberts counsels clients on Medicare and other healthcare compliance issues and advocates before the U.S. Congress and regulatory agencies on her clients' behalf. Her clients include healthcare providers; pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device manufacturers; investors; and professional and trade associations. In June 2014, she was part of the Tahirih Justice Center team named as Highly Commended in the 2014 Seymour Mintz Excellence Awards which honor outstanding performance within Hogan Lovells in advancing its value of Good Citizenship. In December 2013, she accepted the LaSalle D. Leffall Hidden Hero Award from C-Change on behalf of Hogan Lovells. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Roberts served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable John Ferren on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Roberts holds a law degree from The University of Texas School of Law where she graduated with honors and a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated magna cum laude.
Savage is the chief medical officer and co-founder of Proteus Digital Health, and formerly the company’s vice president of research and development. Named by PharmaVoice as one of the 100 most inspiring people in the pharmaceutical industry, his focus is on developing the clinical and economic evidence needed to secure global regulatory approvals and spur widespread adoption of Proteus’s ingestible sensor platform and complementary digital health technologies. Dr. Savage holds a B.S. in biomedical engineering from Boston University, an M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine and an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
