Leadership Assessment and School Improvement Group Partners with Statewide Education Service Agencies
Madison, Wisconsin (PRWEB) September 03, 2015 -- Wisconsin CESAs and Wisconsin Center for Education Products and Services (WCEPS) announced today they have formed a collaborative partnership to provide annual subscriptions for the Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership for Learning (CALL). The CALL leadership assessment and feedback system will be available to Wisconsin school districts through all 12 of Wisconsin’s CESAs for the 2015-2016 school year. To facilitate a successful state-wide roll-out, the CALL Team has developed a seamless implementation plan for easy replication in other states with Education Service Agencies.
This is an important milestone agreement between the Wisconsin CESAs and WCEPS to enable statewide support for a new resource originally developed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. CALL is a cloud-based, school-wide leadership assessment and feedback system using a multi-source survey to assess core K-12 leadership practices that are distributed across the school.
“We are delighted to have an opportunity to make the product of our research available to school districts through this partnership with the CESA network,” said Carolyn Kelley, UW-Madison professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. “This kind of partnership is a terrific example of how we can work together to support public schools in their important work educating the next generation of Wisconsin citizens.”
Dr. Kelley and her colleague at UW-Madison, Dr. Rich Halverson, led the development of CALL through more than four years of research and field-testing. It focuses on how well and how often teachers and administrators carry out critical leadership tasks day-to-day throughout the school. The result is specific recommendations for improvements, correlated to five critical domains that determine school success. CALL implementation will now be supported by CESAs across the state, providing a valuable information and in-person operational support to improve teaching and learning.
“Wisconsin’s 12 CESAs are pleased to announce this partnership with WCEPS and to take this step to offer the CALL leadership assessment throughout the state. CESAs will assist schools in its implementation as well as the interpretation of survey results,” said Jesse Harness, Commissioner of the CESA Statewide Network. “We look forward to leveraging this innovation developed at our flagship university with the goal of improving student learning statewide.”
CALL is customizable and designed to fill a range of needs that school districts may have. CALL has been used to provide detailed guidance to successful school improvement plans, and as a critical step in educator effectiveness programs. CALL will be able to support the DPI Principal Educator Effectiveness model. “The CALL tool could be an excellent complement to the work of districts and leaders using the State EE Model. It provides great feedback for leaders to use in their school improvement efforts,” said Katie Rainey, Director for DPI Educator Effectiveness.
In addition, CALL aligns with the CESA 6 Effectiveness Project, according to Joan Wade, Agency Administrator of CESA 6. “The CALL leadership assessment integrates seamlessly with the CESA 6 Educator Effectiveness Project, which is now in use in more than 170 school districts across the state of Wisconsin, ” stated Joan Wade. “The CALL assessment will provide a new, reliable source of data to enhance our program. We also appreciated that CALL is designed to be taken by every educator in the school and that actionable data is available immediately. ”
