Leading Adventure and Wilderness Therapy Program Celebrates One Year Anniversary
Boise, ID (PRWEB) September 09, 2015 -- One year since they opened their doors, BlueFire Wilderness Therapy recognizes the successful outcomes of their program and looks towards future success. BlueFire Wilderness Therapy offers a comprehensive multi-faceted and clinical approach to wilderness therapy for teens ages 11-17.
In the past year, BlueFire has impacted the lives of more than 60 clients and hundreds of families with their innovative programming.
BlueFire wilderness therapy guides clients on a personal journey in which they discover and confront their personal struggles and find their hopes and dreams. The program incorporates a highly individualized and comprehensive combination of individual, equine, and family therapies in order to help teens and their families build a happier, more successful future. Clients leave BlueFire feeling self-empowered to lead successful lives.
In celebration of BlueFire’s one-year anniversary, parents of past clients were sent a survey about their experience with blueFire. The survey found that 100% of families believed:
- BlueFire accurately and sensitively identified their child’s issues.
- BlueFire therapists exceeded performance expectations when working with their child.
- Their child developed new organizational and independence skills in the program.
- The parent support offered parents actual tools and skills that have been helpful in their relationship with their child.
- The family therapist accurately and sensitively identified their family dynamics and supported them in how to begin changing those dynamics.
- The Equine Therapy Program was meaningful to their child’s growth
“At BlueFire, we know there’s no easy fix to a family’s struggles,” says Kathy Rex CTRS, Executive Director and Co-Founder of BlueFire Wilderness. “The results we have seen this past year and in our recent survey with parents underscores the impact blueFire has had and the effort our clients have made to lead happier, healthier lives.”
BlueFire wilderness therapy understands the importance of family involvement in ensuring a teen’s success. Clients communicate their struggles and successes to their parents through video journaling, phone calls, video messages, and letters. The culmination of all the family-focused work comes to life at Family Spark, a 4-day intensive, multi-family workshop mid-way through a child’s stay.
BlueFire’s wilderness therapy program immerses clients in a wilderness setting which interrupts negative behavioral patterns and creates a desire for change and long-term success. The wilderness experience, rich with a variety of high-adventure activities, promotes transferable skills such as confidence, self-awareness, and accountability. The presence of a therapist in the group 4-5 days each week helps BlueFire deliver a top-notch clinical experience.
“A wilderness experience provides teens with an environment vastly different from their daily life,” says Reid Treadaway, Director of Admissions and Co-Founder of BlueFire. “A combination of therapeutic treatment and being in the great outdoors helps teens discover their hopes, dreams, and how to overcome challenges.”
BlueFire Wilderness finishes its first year off strong, as many clients look forward to success in the next chapter of their lives.
