Leading classifieds marketplace Friday-Ad has partnered with Nimber - ‘the Airbnb of package-sending’
Brighton, East Sussex (PRWEB UK) 23 January 2016 -- Brighton based Friday-Ad (http://www.friday-ad.co.uk) is working with innovative social delivery service Nimber, to offer an alternative way for buyers to receive their purchases. Convenient, environmentally-friendly, and cheaper than using standard couriers or hiring a van, Nimber is a collaborative peer-to-peer delivery service. It connects people who need to send something from one place to another, with someone who is going in that direction.
Friday-Ad buyers who’ve spotted a bargain can put a request on Nimber via the Friday-Ad site, to see if anyone - a ‘bringer’ - can deliver as part of a journey they are making anyway. The two parties are then put in touch to agree a price and time for delivery. Bringers have their regular journeys logged into the site, which then notifies them when a suitable candidate for a delivery comes up.
Will Kidger, Product Manager for Friday-Ad says: “We’re excited to be partnering with Nimber to introduce their unique peer-to-peer delivery service to the Friday-Ad community. Nimber promises even more freedom for Friday-Ad buyers and sellers as it’s a really convenient and cost effective way to have their purchases picked-up and delivered anywhere in the UK.”
He continues: “The cost and effort involved in arranging delivery of items can discourage some people searching further afield to find their perfect purchase, so we’ve integrated the Nimber booking process right into the heart of the new Friday-Ad site to make arranging that precious new purchase a doddle.”
The new partnership will allow Friday-Ad website users to expand their horizons when searching for items to buy. No longer will the perfect guitar, coffee table or baby cot be too difficult to collect. With Nimber, the delivery can be on the buyer’s terms, at a time of their choice and at a pre-agreed price.
The rise of ‘social delivery’
Nimber describes itself as ‘a social delivery service where you save the environment, make money and do something nice for other people’. Founded by Norwegian businessman Knut Bjerke, it is well established in Norway and launched in the UK in July 2015. The company has recently secured investment capital for growth. In the next 10 years the value of the ‘sharing economy’, typified by the likes of Airbnb and TaskRabbit, is expected to grow from £500 million to £9 billion in the UK, according to PWC.
Friday-Ad at the forefront of the sharing community
Last year Friday-Ad celebrated 40 years of bringing local buyers and sellers together and we continue to improve our service in line with the latest consumer and digital trends. The website http://www.friday-ad.co.uk relaunched in 2015 with improved functionality to help our 1.5 million monthly users easily and safely buy, sell and discover items online. The start of 2016 brings further progress - our partnership with Nimber demonstrating a commitment to classified site innovation, while adapting to the fast-growing sharing economy.
