Lean Enterprise Institute’s 2017 Conference Will Examine Management Systems that Develop Problem Solvers
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) December 05, 2016 -- Managers and executives from manufacturing, service, and healthcare companies will describe how their lean management systems support and develop people’s problem solving skills at the annual Lean Transformation Summit, March 7-8, 2017, in Carlsbad, CA.
“We listen to customers to improve the Summit every year,” said Josh Rapoza, customer strategy officer at conference organizer, the Lean Enterprise Institute. “The most popular requests in a survey at last year’s Summit were more networking time and more focus on how management systems can create problem solving cultures.”
Plenary and breakout sessions will address the specifics of how different lean management systems at a variety of companies develop the problem solving skills of people at every organizational level.
The Summit also will feature more networking in the form of breaks and receptions, lunch roundtables dedicated to specific subjects, a golf outing, tour of nearby San Diego Safari Park, and preconference conversations with lean management authors and thought leaders John Shook, LEI CEO, and Jim Womack, LEI founder and senior advisor at the Cambridge, MA-based nonprofit.
The Summit takes place at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. For complete information and to register visit: http://www.lean.org/Events/2017_lean_transformation_summit.cfm, call 617-871-2900, or email [email protected]. An early registration discount of $300 is available until Jan. 31.
Lean Management and Innovation
The annual conference is expected to draw more than 600 lean practitioners from around the world, seeking innovative, how-to information about starting or sustaining lean transformations. In the keynote, Shook will share his unique views of what true innovation is and how it drives management systems that create problem solvers.
Other plenary speakers are:
• Ci&T co-founders Cesar Gon, global CEO, and Bruno Guicardi, president of North America, who will explain how a lean effort began at the senior level with hoshin kanri and ultimately encompassed all employees worldwide.
• Lantech CEO Jim Lancaster will describe why Lantech, a stellar performer in improvement by means of kaizen and kaikaku in the 1990s, struggled over time to sustain its gains and improve financial performance until it developed a daily management system.
• Cindy Steckel, VP, chief nursing and operations executive, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, and Alexie Nguyen, MD, medical director, Hospitalist Program, Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, will explain how Scripps adapts its lean management system at five very different campuses to incrementally improve operations by engaging people at all levels in problem solving.
Other highlights include learning sessions, small interactive classes on the leading-edge of lean thinking and practice. Pre-conference workshops, in-depth sessions for building skills and behaviors, will run March 6.
