Learn How to Investigate Sexual Harassment Allegations
Ottawa, ON (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- A sexual harassment lawsuit can cost a company millions, so it's important for human resources professionals to know how to handle this type of workplace misconduct. To help fill that knowledge gap, i-Sight Software is offering a free training webinar on investigating sexual harassment. The webinar will be presented on Thursday, October 31st at 2pm EST, by employment attorney Allison West, Esq., SPHR, investigator, trainer and founder of Employment Practices Specialists.
As a provider of web-based investigative case management software i-Sight offers monthly training webinars on topics of interest to workplace investigators and human resources leaders. Attendees gain valuable skills that help them do their jobs better. The Investigating Sexual Harassment webinar has been pre-approved for one hour of continuing education credit with the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
“Managers, HR professionals and investigators must sometimes deal with employees who allege they are being sexually harassed at work,” says West. “Sexual harassment cases are often difficult to address due to the sensitive issues surrounding this type of harassment and the emotions involved. It’s important for investigators to be properly trained to deal with difficult interviews, verify facts and investigate the harassment allegations thoroughly. Failure to investigate properly can lead to lawsuits and even serious harm to those involved,” she says.
“We are so happy to have Allison West back to present another webinar with us,” says Joe Gerard, Vice-President, Marketing and Sales at i-Sight. “Allison has deep experience in workplace investigations and is an excellent trainer and teacher. In previous webinars with us she has provided solid strategies that HR professionals and investigators can put into practice right away. Our webinar attendees consistently give us great feedback on her presentations.”
During the 60-minute webinar, West will explore:
• what harassment is and what it isn’t
• policy vs. the law
• how to handle delicate interviews
• gender of the investigator
• “reasonable person” standard
• gathering evidence
• the “he said, she said” dilemma
• same sex harassment
