Learn Lean Process Design from the Experts: Leonardo Group and Toyota Material Handling Partner in Lean Process Design Workshop on June 16-18 2015
Boulder, Colorado (PRWEB) April 28, 2015 -- A study conducted by Professor Koichi Shimizu in Japan, documented in the 2010 book Toyota Kata by Mike Rother, concluded that up to 90% of the realized benefits of Lean Manufacturing come from engineers and managers designing Lean processes. However, few companies and Lean practitioners understand the step-by-step Line Design method deeply. Although today most companies acknowledge and embrace the need to be “Lean”, many Lean improvement efforts don’t have a significant impact on the bottom line, and company leaders have a hard time finding the hard dollar benefits. In this workshop participants will learn these essential process design skills, practice them in a classroom simulation environment, and be able to apply them immediately in their home factory. This workshop is led by experts in Mixed Model Line Design from Leonardo Group Americas, with participation from industry experts from Toyota.
Students learn best by doing, and this workshop includes the actual implementation of the line design tools and methods in a classroom environment. Timer Pro, a software tool in use at Toyota, will be used to define Standard Work and perform line balancing, and participants will design an actual production line. Designs will then be tested using dynamic simulation modeling tools.
Participants will have a chance to compare what was learned in the classroom, and applied in a simulation environment, to what is actually done at a factory that was awarded "Plant of the Year" in 2010 by Plant Engineering Magazine. The plant tours will be led by seasoned Toyota experts, with a focus on the line design tools applied in the classroom. These experts will also join participants during lunch breaks, for a Q&A session to answer specific questions.
