LearnTech Labs Announces New Breed of Coding Bootcamp
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) April 14, 2015 -- LearnTech Labs is a new coding school launching in Redwood City, California on August 15, 2015. They teach in-person, career-focused courses covering web and app development, alongside the foundations of computer science. Every part of the curriculum is designed with employment in mind, and the school supports students through the job hunt and into their careers.
The founding team is comprised of educationalists, recruiters, and technologists who are passionate about offering a hands-on project based curriculum while still including a deep study of analytical thinking and core problem solving.
Bella Baek, one of the founders, has been a tech recruiter for over a decade, and has seen firsthand the disconnect between education and industry: "We noticed that most colleges fail to prepare CS students for the modern development environment. Meanwhile, coding bootcamps are covering very little computer science. Most tech employers want to see both, and it doesn’t take a four-year degree to get there.”
LearnTech offers a web course focused on full-stack JavaScript development, and an app course focused on iPhone and iPad app development. Computer science fundamentals are taught in both courses. Afterward, students move on to jobs, or take an additional four-month deep dive into computer science and its application in modern programming.
“Almost all of the coding bootcamps in California are in the 49 square miles of San Francisco” said Jordan Hart, also a founder of LearnTech Labs. “We want to offer the opportunity further down the Peninsula, and then all over the world. That’s why we chose Redwood City as the location for our first school, and expanding to India and The Philippines shortly after.”
