LED Office Lighting Upgrade: Modern Look With a Dramatic Reduction in Energy
Farmington Hills, MI USA (PRWEB) January 12, 2017 -- Climate Technology’s existing lighting system, consisting of fluorescent bulbs and fixtures embedded in a drop ceiling, was outdated. Age had yellowed and cracked the acrylic lenses, and the fluorescent bulbs - now phased out of production - were no longer economical to replace.
While the need for an upgrade was clearly evident, the company had multiple concerns that prevented any concrete action.
The biggest concern was cost - changing out all the fixtures would come with a significant price tag in both labor and materials.
A second concern was how much time and disruption the business would experience from an extensive renovation.
The final concern was how much mess would result when the suspended ceiling was opened up. All the computers and desks would need to be covered or moved.
The Energy Alliance Group of Michigan was called in to discuss the situation and develop an optimal solution. A unique LED lighting system was agreed upon that addressed all the concerns, while also reducing the energy used for lighting by 70 - 80%.
The solution was a new LED panel that simply snaps into the existing fixture after the present bulbs and acrylic panel have been removed. The installer only has to disconnect the wiring from the old system and reconnect it to a new LED light panel. Once the reconnect is finished, the LED replacement snaps into the now empty fixture and the upgrade is completed.
The result is a modern look with a dramatic improvement in the quality of light requiring only a couple minutes for installation per fixture. The normal activities of the business are able to go on as usual - the suspended ceiling does not have to be opened and the associated nightmare of a mess is eliminated.
The LED light panels come with a 10 year warranty and are expected to operate for 100,000 hours compared to the 1 year warranty and 30,000 hours of a typical fluorescent bulb. The bulbs use 70 - 80% less energy than the bulbs being replaced, resulting in a significant reduction in energy expense.
The project was made affordable through a DTE utility rebate in addition to energy - specific financing from Michigan Saves.
