LEDLights.co.uk Respond to Li-Fi Installed in Classroom
(PRWEB UK) 31 October 2013 -- It has been reported in Lux Magazine in the article ‘Britain’s First Li-Fi Classroom Logs On’ published on October 15 that the innovative means of connecting to the Internet has been installed in one classroom in the Business Academy Bexley in Kent.
According to the report in Lux Magazine, this new technology uses imperceptible changes in the white light emitted by a LED bulb to provide a wireless Internet connection. It is believed that this new technology will enable a faster and more reliable Internet connection, as well as offering new functions.
The system installed in the Kent school has been provided by PureVLC, a company co-founded by Professor Harald Haas who, according to the BBC, coined the term ‘light fidelity’, otherwise known as Li-Fi.
Harald Haas told Lux Magazine that:
“The Li-Fi system could help teachers share materials with students in a more targeted and secure ways. The modern way of teaching is moving to online courses and classes. There’s a lot of material that teachers want to distribute to pupils in a classroom, and with Li-Fi this can be done via an intranet or an intra-classroom environment where the information is only streamed in a certain location.”
As experts in LED lighting, the specialists at LEDLights.co.uk closely follow industry news and were interested in this recent development. A spokesperson for the company shared their thoughts:
