(PRWEB) February 13, 2016 -- Leftwich LLC is pleased to announce that Scott Burrell has joined the firm as Senior Counsel and Senior Consultant, effective February 1, 2016.
Mr. Burrell joins Leftwich from the District of Columbia government where he most recently served as Senior Legal Advisor to City Administrator Allen Lew. In this role, he provided advice and counsel on all government operations issues, including leading day-to-day stadium negotiations with DC United, representing the District on a multijurisdictional operating agreement for the Blue Plains wastewater facility, and serving as key staff to the Mayor’s Certified Business Enterprise Advisory Group that produced a comprehensive legislative overhaul to the certified business program. In a statement, Scott said, “I have long admired Leftwich and am excited to leverage my skills and experience with those of my colleagues at the firm.”
Prior to that, Mr. Burrell was Chief Operating Officer for the Department of General Services, which develops, constructs and operates all District buildings and facilities. He was also a leader in creating this agency – which joined predecessor organizations into an umbrella agency with combined annual operating and capital budgets of approximately $600 million. During his 15-year government career, Mr. Burrell also served as General Counsel to the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization and Chief Financial Officer for the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission.
Leftwich Managing Member Marie Johns said, “As a part of his government service, Scott participated in some of the District’s most important endeavors, including the re-location of the Nationals to Washington, the historic modernization of District school facilities, and a new DC United Stadium at Buzzard Point. His diverse set of skills as an attorney, CPA and government executive will help Leftwich continue to provide its clients with the innovative and quality services they have come to expect from the firm.”
