Legacy Building Solutions Donates Fabric Building to Local High School
SOUTH HAVEN, Mich., Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Legacy Building Solutions has donated a fabric building to Kimball High School. The new multi-purpose building will allow the school to offer more classes in industrial arts as well as provide an area for wrestling practice and other activities.
Expanding the industrial arts program fits with Legacy's dedication to supporting education, as well as training the next generation of welders, fabricators and other skilled workers such as those employed by the company. "Industrial arts is how Legacy grew," said Ellie Fox. "We are really excited to be able to give that back to the community."
With the new space, Kimball school is able to grow the industrial arts program to meet the growing demand for skilled workers. Before the expansion, the school offered metal and wood courses in alternating semesters due to safety concerns with lingering wood dust and arc welding. "Now, we can have both metal and wood classes every hour of every day," said Jim Wagner, superintendent and community education director of Kimball Area Schools.
Like all Legacy buildings, the structure was custom designed at the company's headquarters. Legacy's exclusive ExxoTec™ PVC fabric is used on the exterior of the building, which is fully lined and insulated for energy-efficient use year round. The interior liner is white, which reflects the lighting in the building and means all the wrestling matts are evenly lit, with blue trim along the walls to match school colors. The interior liner also envelops the building in a soft surface, greatly reducing the chances of athletes sustaining an injury when hitting the wall.
The completed building is 45 feet wide by 100 feet 6 inches long and attached to the school with a fabric vestibule. There are no interior supports, leaving more room for wrestling and other activities.
The building officially opened on December 29, after about two months of construction and nearly 10 months of planning and permitting. Legacy handled building design and construction and donated all the materials and installation. Legacy's donation and community cooperation meant that the school district could start construction without passing a levy.
This is not the first time Legacy Building Solutions has made a donation to area school districts. In 2017, the company donated 2,824 school supplies to another local school district in honor of the company's ranking on the 2017 Inc. 5000.
