Legendary VC Vinod Khosla to Keynote at ONS2014
Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) January 21, 2014 -- Open Networking Summits, Inc. represents the industry’s only non-profit conference that brings together the entire networking ecosystem to discuss advances in software-defined networking (SDN), OpenFlow, and network functions virtualization (NFV).
WHO:
Legendary technologist and investor Vinod Khosla will headline the Open Networking Summit (ONS) 2014 keynote sessions. Mr. Khosla has an unmatched track record in incubating disruptive innovation in diverse areas from computing to clean tech and from silicon to social entrepreneurship.
In networking, Mr. Khosla is best known for incubating the idea and business plan for Juniper to take on Cisco’s dominance of the router market, and for transforming the moribund telecommunications business and its archaic SONET implementations with Cerent (sold to Cisco for $7.2B). Mr. Khosla was a co-founder of Daisy systems and founding CEO of Sun Microsystems, where he pioneered open systems and commercial RISC processors. He also is known for taking on Intel’s monopoly with Nexgen, the only microprocessor to have significant success against Intel, later sold to AMD for 28 percent of AMD.
In his keynote, Mr. Khosla will talk about SDN as a disruptive innovation and the role of disruptive innovations in high-tech industry.
WHAT:
The fourth annual ONS will be held March 3-5, 2014. ONS is leading the transformation in networking, bringing together the extended ecosystem to advance the understanding of what is being deployed today and what the networks of the future will look like tomorrow. The historically sold-out conference will be expanded in 2014 to accommodate increasing demands from customers, operators, architects, vendors, executives, researchers, developers, and investors.
ONS speakers represent the broad spectrum of industry visionaries and leaders. Past summit speakers have been from Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook, eBay, NTT, NEC, Goldman Sachs, Fidelity, Deutsche Telekom, Internet2, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Princeton, Cornell, Nicira, VMware, Big Switch, HP, Cisco, Brocade, IBM, Intel, Arista, Ericsson, Huawei, and Dell, among others.
ONS has been the showcase for the most SDN exhibits under one roof, consisting of exhibits from early adopters, vendors, startups, academia, and industry labs. ONS2014 will have a larger exhibit floor to give attendees more room to interact with exhibitors demonstrating their solutions, discussing use cases, and collecting feedback to accelerate adoption of next-generation technologies.
ONS provides a valuable forum for networking opportunities for everyone across the ecosystem to mingle and discuss their ideas – from start-ups and investors to established vendors; from technologists to business executives; from researchers to practitioners; from carriers to enterprises, journalists, analysts, and government agencies.
