Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) March 24, 2014 -- Suffolk County Legislators William Lindsay III and Kara Hahn honored Stony Brook University senior Neha Kinariwalla of Sayville, NY on receiving a Gates Cambridge Scholarship. Kinariwalla is the first Stony Brook University undergraduate to have earned the prestigious honor.
“Neha is a bright and dedicated young woman who has committed herself to excellence in all aspects of life,” said Legislator Lindsay. “As the first student from Sayville High School and Stony Brook University to receive the Gates-Cambridge Scholarship I am confident that we will be hearing a lot more about Neha and her future achievements.”
Gates Cambridge Scholarships are highly competitive full-cost scholarships that are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the United Kingdom to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. The program aims to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.
“I am thrilled to be able to recognize such a fabulous young woman,” said Legislator Hahn. “Neha has committed to giving back to needy communities and improve the lives of others and has distinguished herself as a future global leader. As a Social Worker, I share and applaud her commitment to making a difference in people’s lives. All of us in the Stony Brook Community are proud to have you in our midst.”
During her studies at Cambridge University, Kinariwalla will focus her attention toward earning a Master’s in Philosophy [MPhil] of Modern Society & Global Transformations.
