Lennys Grill & Subs Continues Fight to End Childhood Hunger with National Fundraiser
MEMPHIS, TN (PRWEB) September 08, 2017 -- In its third year of partnership with No Kid Hungry®, Lennys Grill & Subs, a sandwich franchise known for fan favorites like “World Class Philly Cheesesteaks," grilled and deli sandwiches, aims to raise more than $33,000 system-wide during the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry in the month of September.
Through the Dine Out event, Lennys Grill & Subs is requesting patrons to donate $1 each time they visit. Diners will be recognized for their kind donations with a $2-off coupon for their favorite deli sub on their next visit.
“No child should wonder if he or she will get a meal every day,” said Kevin Martin, President and CEO for Lennys Grill & Subs. “The No Kid Hungry initiative provides an opportunity for our guests and franchisees to help those in need.”
According to No Kid Hungry, one in six American children struggles with food insecurity, meaning they may not know where their next meal will come. But a $1 donation to the organization can help connect a child facing hunger with up to 10 meals*. Since 1984, Share Our Strength, which runs the No Kid Hungry campaign, has raised more than $528 million through corporate sponsorships, events and donations. During that timeframe, funds have been granted to more than 1,100 deserving organizations nationwide that help to feed hungry children.
“Millions of kids in America don't get enough food at home, making it almost impossible for them to focus and do well in school,” said Jill Davis, Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnerships at Share Our Strength. “This year, our social media campaign focuses on the idea that if you’re angry that 1 in 6 kids are hungry in America, you’re #hangry. With the help of brands like Lennys Grill & Subs, we can kick #hangry to the curb and help kids who don’t have enough to eat.”
Last year, Lennys Grill & Subs exceeded its fundraising goal in just the second year of partnering with No Kid Hungry. By collecting $5,000 more than its goal of $30,000 in 2016, it’s clear that communities nationwide understand the seriousness of the issue, and the potential that brands like Lennys Grill & Subs have to make a difference.
“The growing support for No Kid Hungry that we have seen from the communities that we serve shows how significant the initiative is,” Martin said. “I’m proud of our teams for their dedication to the cause and look forward to seeing how much we can raise in upcoming years with the support of our growing franchise system.”
Since 2008, thousands of restaurants across the country have raised millions through the Dine Out for No Kid Hungry program. Funds raised support No Kid Hungry’s work to connect vulnerable children to effective nutrition programs like School Breakfast and Summer Meals, creating public-private partnerships that work together to identify and break down barriers to giving children access to meals, and teaching low-income families how to stretch their food budgets and cook healthy, affordable meals.
