Lenoir Memorial Hospital Chooses Access to Integrate Electronic Patient Signatures with MEDITECH’S EHR
Sulphur Springs, Texas (PRWEB) July 08, 2015 -- Lenoir Memorial Hospital is continually looking for ways to enhance patient engagement and improve efficiency. Administrators recognized that enabling patients to electronically sign registration packets would speed admissions, increase satisfaction and reduce paper-related tasks for the HIM team. They selected Access e-Signature to meet this need.
“Of the electronic patient signature products we evaluated, Access’s was the easiest to use, the most cost effective and is proven to integrate with MEDITECH,” said Peggy Dunn, Registration Manager at Lenoir. “We also believe the implementation will be quick and straightforward and are excited to get started.”
Currently, patients fill in between six and eight pages when they check in at Lenoir’s registration area. They then apply an ink-on-paper signature to each document. The forms are then sent to the HIM department, where they’re scanned.
With the Access solution, patients will apply a secure electronic signature to completed forms. The authorized documents will then be sent directly into the correct patient’s electronic health record in MEDITECH’s EHR, with no manual intervention.
“With Access e-Signature we’ll eliminate the chance of document loss and reduce the amount of scanning for HIM,” Dunn said. “Our patients will be able to sign registration packets more easily, which will speed the process for them.”
When evaluating electronic signature options, Lenoir’s team also looked for an extensible solution that was applicable in other departments.
“Access’s solution will enable us to easily expand to other areas of the hospital as needed,” said Debbie Gray, Director PFS & Managed Care at Lenoir.
