Lenovo to Provide Employees with Onsite Health Services
Morrisville, N.C. (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- Lenovo today announced a new initiative to offer onsite health services to 2,200 employees at the technology company’s Morrisville, N.C. site.
The initiative is part of a partnership with Marathon Health, Inc., whose clinicians will provide total population health management services - primary care, health assessments, lifestyle coaching, and disease management – at an onsite health center that is scheduled to open in December. Marathon Health will provide wellness and healthcare services to Lenovo employees with its MedicalHome@Work™ model as the foundation for care delivery.
Lenovo officials said the decision to implement an onsite healthcare program was based on its commitment to the health and wellbeing of its employees and their families, as well as an opportunity to help reduce healthcare spending.
"We are pleased to team up with Marathon Health to offer an onsite wellness center and robust online portal and health coaching services," said Julie Whitlock, Lenovo Global Health and Wellness Program Manager. "We believe this is an important step toward helping our employees achieve their best health – as well as greater work/life balance – by making access to health care convenient and cost-efficient."
The Marathon Health model moves away from ‘sick care’ toward a solution focused on the whole person, not just their symptoms. Through this approach and by integrating with Lenovo’s other health services, the onsite clinicians will help employees achieve their goals of leading healthier and longer lives.
Marathon Health CEO Jerry Ford said he applauds Lenovo’s focus on employee responsibility and believes this partnership will help to reduce the increasing burden of healthcare costs to the company.
"There’s a reason Lenovo is one of the fastest growing major personal technology companies – they value the employees that have helped the company become so successful," Ford said. "We look forward to providing our services and working with the team at Lenovo to change the healthcare delivery system as we know it."
