Lenz Foundation, NYU Global Spiritual Life Announce Awakened Leadership: Mindfulness in Business and at Work Conference, June 1– 3, 2016
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 26, 2016 -- The Frederick P. Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism and the New York University (NYU) Global Spiritual Life team, along with the NYU Stern School of Business and LMU are collaborating to present a conference on Awakened Leadership: Mindfulness in Business and at Work from June 1 - 3 in Los Angeles, California. The three-day conference will be hosted by Loyola Marymount University.
The conference will bring together Lenz Foundation grant recipients, leading speakers on mindfulness/meditation, and leaders from business and community organizations to discuss the potential for Buddhist wisdom to transform management and leadership practices. The conference seeks to both embrace and go beyond many of the popular discussions on mindfulness in the workplace.
“We look forward to this opportunity to assemble our grantees, many of whom operate at the leading edge of introducing mindfulness and meditation to our society, at a conference devoted to mindfulness in the workspace,” states Norman Oberstein, Chairman of the Board of the Lenz Foundation. “We believe that both our invited grantees and business leaders will find the conference to be timely and enlightening.”
According to Yael Shy, Senior Director, Global Spiritual Life at NYU, “This conference will be a groundbreaking event and we encourage many business and community leaders to attend. The conference will provide practical knowledge for introducing mindfulness and meditation into the workplace for more innovative, effective and compassionate business outcomes.”
Chris Chapple, Doshi Professor and Director of the MA in Yoga Studies at LMU adds, “Mindfulness has many applications and can be helpful for business leaders to remain focused and grounded.”
The Lenz Foundation was established in 1998 with the mission of fostering the growth and development of an authentic American Buddhism that takes its inspiration from the wisdom traditions of the East but adopts new forms, new approaches, and new applications that are suited to contemporary American society and culture.
Global Spiritual Life at NYU’s mission is to offer environments and tools for transformative multifaith and spiritual encounters at NYU and beyond. The Mindfulness in Business initiative at NYU was founded in 2014 as a collaboration between the Stern School of Business and NYU Global Spiritual Life to enhance mindful leadership skills in business school education.
LMU hosts weekly Vipassana sessions and twice-weekly Zen meditations through the Marymount Center for Prayer and Peace. A leader in inter-religious dialogue, LMU has been active in the area of applied spirituality since its inception in 1911.
